What is sleep coaching?
We all know the power of sleep. Sleep is a natural phenomenon, however it is very strongly affected by physical and mental factors. These factors can help or hinder our sleep.
Some of these involve the physical environment. Some of them involve our habits and the things our body associates with sleepyness or wakefulness. Some relate to how we think and feel about our sleeping nor not sleeping. And nearly all of them can be modified in a way that supports our sleep.
Sleep coaching involves a brief 10 minute phone call so that I can let you know if there are any reasons you should not work with me or might need a GP review first. If we go ahead, I’ll send you some forms to fill in as well as a week long sleep diary. When this is complete, you can book your coaching session!
The approximately hour long video call (if possible) will include a comprehensive interview and review of your sleep environment, sleep habits and other factors that affect sleep. We will also look at how you are thinking and feeling about your sleep and struggles with sleep.
Together we will troubleshoot your sleep problems, and I will send you a plan of action for improving your sleep that is specific to your sleep troubles. You put it into place for two to four weeks – we will then schedule another 30 minute call to review the plan and answer any questions you might have. Followup calls can be booked on an ad hoc basis.
